The Head and the Heart has announced their 2025 album, Aperture, is set for release on May 9 featuring the brand new single “After the Setting Sun,” plus a round of North American tour dates kicking off at the end of May.
Scheduled to hit shelves and streaming services on May 9, The Head and the Heart’s forthcoming sixth studio album, Aperture, features 12 all-new tracks including the album opener “After the Setting Sun,” out today, as well as the previously released “Arrow.”
"For us, Aperture is more than just the title of our new album—it’s a reflection of the journey we’ve been on as a band and as people," the group said announcing the news on Instagram. "It represents the choice we all face: to close ourselves off to the darkness or to open up and let the light in. It’s about hope, resilience, and seeing the world—and ourselves—more clearly. We’re beyond thrilled to announce that our brand new album, Aperture, will be available everywhere on May 9th. This album marks a new chapter for The Head and The Heart—one defined by sustainability, intentionality, and making music on our own terms. We can’t wait for you to hear it."
The band has also revealed dates for their Aperture tour kicking off on May 31 in Detroit. And scheduled to make stops in New York City, Boston, Philly, Dallas, Los Angeles, and more before wrapping on October 10 in Tennessee.
Tickets will be available starting with pre-sales on Tuesday, March 4 at 10AM local time before the general on-sale beginning Friday, March 7 at 10AM local time. One dollar from every ticket sold will be donated to the band’s Rivers and Roads Foundation, which raises money for local Seattle-based music programs and initiatives with an emphasis on equitable access to music education, and mental health resources and support for musicians. “I believe we’ve made a very great record together and obviously the title is an important aspect of the final product,” says group member Matty Gervais. “For me, Aperture represents the choice we all must make between resigning ourselves to darkness, or letting the light in and recognizing our own agency to do so. It feels relevant to the times, in that we’re literally choosing between authoritarianism vs. democracy. Ignorance vs. enlightenment on a macro scale, and complacency/cynicism vs. hope, empathy and perseverance on the micro scale. To me, it sums up a lot of what each of these songs is grappling with in some form and what we’ve collectively gone through as a band. It’s about choosing hope again and again, no matter how many times it may feel that you have lost it.”
